The synthesis is unfinished. The experimental program is visible.

Unwindology is a developing research program investigating how living tissue and behavior may carry history. Its papers approach that question from visible directional patterns, connective-tissue geometry, measurement orientation, loading sequence, interfacial state, compensation, and condition-dependent change.

This page is not an announcement that a unified theory has been proven. It shows where the ideas came from, how the papers relate, which claims are background, observations, or hypotheses, and what evidence would require revision or abandonment.

The papers connect because they generate a shared experimental program. Their agreement with one another is not independent proof that the program is correct.

Gatekeeper hypothesis

The interval must earn the word active.

Consider two mechanically coupled tissue layers, H1 and H2, separated by an interface I. The interface becomes an active participant only if it has a measurable state, interaction changes that state, and the changed state improves prediction.

    It has a measurable state: hydration, hyaluronan properties, viscosity, interface thickness, shear resistance, displacement, or relaxation time.

    Interaction between the layers changes that state.

    The changed state helps predict what the layers do next.

REJECTION CONDITION

If the interface supplies no independently measurable predictive information, reject the active-interval hypothesis in favor of an ordinary pairwise, viscoelastic, poroelastic, frictional, or damage model.

ESTABLISHED BACKGROUND

What does not require accepting Unwindology

Start with what the wider evidence can already support.

These findings constrain the questions. They do not establish a body-wide helicoid, golden-ratio anatomy, a hair-to-deep-fascia connection, a universal fold map, or one mechanism operating unchanged across tissue, behavior, consciousness, and cosmology.

    Fascia in several anatomical regions contains multiple fibrous layers separated by loose connective-tissue interfaces, including hyaluronan-rich matrix.

    Adjacent layers can have different preferred fiber orientations.

    Collagenous tissues are anisotropic and time-dependent: measured behavior can vary with loading direction, measurement direction, rate, duration, and prior loading.

CHGT

Clockwise Hair Growth Theory

Does independently coded hair-whorl handedness predict a preregistered, anatomically localized measure of deep-fascial fiber winding after relevant covariates are controlled?

CHGT began with longitudinal observations of hair whorls, skin patterns, recurring points, and perceived directional relationships across the body. Its current public role is deliberately narrower: it contributes the observational origin of Unwindology and a possible visible marker of directionality.

BOUNDARY

It does not establish that hair mechanically creates deep fascial patterns, that all human hair is clockwise, or that reversing hair direction releases tissue. If no reproducible surface-to-deep relationship appears, this bridge should be rejected.

STRAND

Strand Theory

Can directional constraint, continuity, folding, and loading history provide a useful geometry for connective-tissue mechanics?

Its durable proposal is smaller than the claim that fascia is a helicoid: fascia can be studied as an anisotropic continuous field with measurable direction, local constraint, and history-dependent change. It supplies candidate language for pathways, junctions, folds, distributed constraint, and mechanical history.

BOUNDARY

Helicoidal, minimal-surface, topological, and golden-ratio formulations remain hypotheses. They must outperform simpler models and cannot be justified by visual or philosophical appeal.

MEASURE

Measurement Bias in Rotational Biological Phenomena

Can a single-axis instrument adequately characterize tissue whose fibers and layers have different orientations?

The defensible core is straightforward: measurement along one direction can underrepresent or combine components of an anisotropic, multilayer response. Multi-angle, multi-axis, and orientation-sensitive protocols are therefore necessary when testing directional claims.

BOUNDARY

No universal 23–34% signal-loss value has been established for fascia, and orientation sensitivity does not prove helicoidal tissue. Estimates depend on geometry, boundary conditions, layer weighting, material assumptions, and instrument design.

Order-Dependent Residual Stiffness

If two matched deformation modes are applied in opposite orders, do they leave distinguishable residual tissue states?

This is the cleanest near-term experiment in the program. A credible test holds total loading constant while comparing A-only, B-only, AB, BA, and sham conditions; validates return to baseline; uses a standardized final probe; blinds endpoint analysis; and tests ordinary viscoelastic and internal-variable alternatives.

BOUNDARY

A positive sequence effect would demonstrate order dependence under the tested conditions. It would not, by itself, identify a microscopic mechanism, prove recoverable memory, establish helicoidal anatomy, implicate hyaluronan, or demonstrate clinical efficacy.

RG

Regulation-Gap & Dissolution Models

Why can costly habits persist despite motivation—and change rapidly when load or available capacity changes?

The directional model RG = L − C treats some persistent behavior as potentially load-bearing rather than simply defective. It predicts that reducing total load or restoring regulatory capacity may sometimes change behavior more effectively than increasing motivation alone.

BOUNDARY

The connection to tissue is structural, not mechanistic. The model does not prove that fascia stores a regulation gap, and its load and capacity terms are not yet independently measurable as complete scalars.

UT V3 / V4

Unified Theory & the Active-Interval Seed

Can layered anatomy, interfacial mechanics, measurement orientation, loading history, compensation, and the archive become one falsifiable program?

Version 3 introduced an explicit evidence registry and preserved important corrections. Version 4 proposed the active interval as the present convergence point. The Unified Theory is the integration layer: a map of dependencies and experiments, not a chain of confirmation.

BOUNDARY

Agreement among papers is not independent proof. Every connection must survive the strongest ordinary biomechanical, behavioral, statistical, and measurement alternatives.

07 / EXPLORATORY EXTENSIONS

Idea atlas · not empirical support

Interesting enough to explore. Too early to carry the biology.

Theory of Everything materials, φ and Fibonacci constructions, triadic hypergraphs, Stuart's equation, seismic and astronomical analogies, QfRAM, consciousness, and cross-scale proposals belong to a separate exploratory branch.

They may generate mathematical experiments or better questions. They do not validate the biological framework, and a finding in fascia would not automatically generalize across scale.

The empirical biological program must stand or fall without them.

04 / LONGITUDINAL ARCHIVE

Provenance before interpretation

A hypothesis-generating corpus—not a validation machine.

The archive is described as containing dated photographs, body maps, intervention sequences, symptom and function reports, conversations, and contemporaneous AI annotations. The full corpus has not yet been independently cataloged or validated.

The index confirms a structured longitudinal archive. It does not confirm biological interpretations attached to the images. Lighting, pose, expression, camera equipment, weight, hydration, activity, injury, treatment, expectation, memory, and selection can all alter apparent change. AI interpretations are annotations, not independent confirmations.

Scientific value will depend on blinded coding, withheld later records, dated predictions, failures and no-change events, stable anatomical graphs, and measurements that discriminate Unwindology from ordinary biomechanical explanations.

A versioned public data manifest and methods note are planned. Private health material will not be released merely to make the theory appear more complete.

HOW WE LABEL CLAIMS

A visible evidence registry

Every claim should tell you what kind of claim it is.

01Established background

Peer-reviewed external evidence or standard mathematics. The label belongs to the cited fact—not to an Unwindology connection built from it.

02Author-observed

A dated first-person observation or source-linked archive record. Documentation does not by itself establish mechanism.

03Proposed

An Unwindology interpretation, model, or mechanism awaiting a defined test.

04Open & falsifiable

A question with an observable outcome capable of weakening or ending the claim.

05Corrected or retired

An earlier statement that has been narrowed, superseded, or withdrawn without erasing its history.

A statement can be well documented as an author observation while remaining unconfirmed as a biological mechanism.

Explicit kill criteria

A theory that cannot become smaller is not ready to become larger.

A negative result does not erase the observation history. It identifies which connection was wrong and where the framework must contract.

An invitation to test—not simply agree

Find the smallest claim that can be measured independently.

Researchers in fascial anatomy, biomechanics, rheology, elastography, connective-tissue imaging, dermatology, behavioral regulation, longitudinal methods, statistics, and causal inference are invited to examine the smallest testable claims.

The goal is not to protect a complete theory. The goal is to discover which parts remain standing after measurement.

This page describes hypotheses and work in progress. It is not medical guidance, does not diagnose or prescribe, and should not delay ordinary medical evaluation or emergency care.

Longitudinal changes reported by the author are uncontrolled and do not establish treatment efficacy, reversal of biological aging, or protection from acute medical events.

Public claims may move among evidence labels as results change. Earlier papers remain available as intellectual history.

The current map, evidence registry, and correction log govern the present position. Material corrections will be dated and explained rather than silently overwritten.

Douglas Chapman is the originator and accountable author of the Unwindology research program.

Generative AI has assisted with organization, synthesis, drafting, mathematical exploration, simulation, and criticism. It is not independent validation or peer review. Human responsibility for verification and correction remains.

WORKING-PAGE STATUS

The map is public. The formal paper still has to earn publication.

A formal paper will follow only after the central claims, references, equations, figures, and experimental protocols complete a dedicated publication audit.
